It's not about the camera.

It's what's 12 inches behind it.

There's a saying I keep coming back to:

it's not about the camera, it's what's 12 inches behind it.
Woman in black dress sitting in red-lit lounge chair with neon sign.

Gear matters, I love gear.

But what I love more

is the story

The story that only exists because someone decided to show up and pay attention. I grew up with a mom who insisted on a photo at every family gathering, every social outing, every occasion that called for showing up together. And if she wasn't going to be there herself, she'd remind us before we left. Every single one. At the time, mildly annoying. Looking back at those albums now, I get it completely.

Images aren't decoration. They're memory.

How I think

By day I work in security risk management. Not the obvious path to visual storytelling. But the skills are closer than you'd think.

Anticipating what's needed before anyone asks. Reading a room. Executing something precise when it counts. That's how I approach every shoot. The camera is the last step. Everything before it is strategy, preparation, and paying close attention to the people in front of me.

The craft behind the image is as

interesting to me as the image itself

Nobody wants to feel like they're being photographed

They want to be seen. Not photographed. Seen.

NOT POSES. NOT PROMPTS.
JUST GENUINE ATTENTION AND THE PATIENCE TO WAIT FOR THE MOMENT THAT MATTERS.

The best images don't look captured. They look found.
